[NEWS/DOWNLOADS] DBSK / Tohoshinki's "Together" in the top 3 Oricon

My LJ friend noirecoulisse reports that DBSK / Tohoshinki / TVXQ's single "Together" made it to the top 3 spot on this week's Oricon chart (12/31/07). Which is fantastic news all around (yay for our boys!) but also surprising since we all know "Together" isn't their strongest single (too bubblegum pop for me). But noirecoulisse did mention that "This song was intended for Sanrio's Cinammon the Movie, so that probably explains the strangeness I felt when hearing this song." LOL! XD

[VIDEO] DBSK / Tohoshinki talks about Purple Line in Popteen

"They started off by announcing Purple Line's release on 16th January 2008. They then talked alittle about the third Japanese album, and then Changmin said that 2008 is around the corner. Jaejoong then pretended to be sad and said that he's going to be 22 years old next year.
The rest started clapping and saying Omedetou! (Congratulations) and he was like, "Isshou jan!" which literally means "Together!" but he probably really meant "what are you guys going on about? We are all turning 22 together!" - probably directed to all but Minnie. Then prompted by Changmin, Jaejoong talked abit about what kind of year 2007 had been.

I thought it was really cute how, because he has one arm around Jaejoong's shoulder the whole entire interview so he couldn't clap properly, Changmin resorted to slapping one hand on Jaejoong's thigh.

Later, Changmin moved on to say how about Toho saying something to Popteen readers, and he threw that into Junsu's lap. The rest sniggered, and Junsu, who looked like he was daydreaming, was like, "er...yes, er....hahaha...er..."

The bye-bye that Jaejoong and Changmin did at the end was cute. But Yoochun is again, the non-speaking one all bundled up in his cap, sweaters and scarfs. He only came alive sometimes with sporadic hand gestures and when teasing Junsu.

Basically the YooSuHo were stoned in this comment spot. Jaejoong and Changmin were carrying this one, and there's alot of JaeMin, which was adorable."

[NEWS] Arirang's Pops in Seoul Best Songs of 2007

12/28/07 Arirang's Pops in Seoul Best Songs of 2007 (Hot Topic)

Ok so that was a long title. ^^; I was watching Arirang an hour or so ago when Pops in Seoul came on, and VJ Isak wonderfully brought us the Best Songs of 2007.

At # 5 is Epik High - Fan (now on its 5th week)
At # 4 is Wonder Girls - Tell Me (now on its 4th straight week)
At # 3 is F.T. Island - Love Pains (on its 6th straight week)
At # 2 is Shinhwa's Kim Dong-wan - Handkerchief

And at # 1 is... (hurray!) Big Bang - Lies. The song had claimed the no. 1 spot for three episodes and the no. 2 spot for four episodes. Not bad Big Bang! The song is the representative track of their mini-album Always, and the song is created by G. Dragon. "I'm so sorry but I love you..." ^_^

[NEWS] December 23 = TVXQ Day

TVXQ was elected as the President of the Republic of Korean Music

Famous group TVXQ (DBSK / Tohoshinki) was elected as the President of the Republic of Korean Music.

This virtual presidential election started from October 23 until December 11 and was organized by the cable channel MTV.

Among thirty candidates, TVXQ monopolized the election and recorded 43.9% of votes whereas the second and third placers were Jang Woo Hyuk and BIG BANG, respectively. Because of this win, MTV and Boombox (http://www.mtv.co.kr) declared December 23 as “TVXQ Day” and will air special programs about the group.

2004: Debut

TVXQ made their first appearance on December 26, 2003 during a BoA and Britney Spears Showcase. They performed their debut song "Hug" as well as an a cappella rendition of "O Holy Night" alongside BoA. The group eventually released two singles ("Hug" and "The Way U Are"), accompanied by photo books, before their first album in 2004. 4 years! Woah you guys have come a long, long way. ^_^ I just want to thank you for your wonderful music. You guys have worked so hard to be where you are now, respected and acknowledged for your talent and effort. You deserve the top spot: not just in the music charts, but in each of your fan's hearts as well. It's been a long ride, but it was fun, and keep this in mind: your fans will always be with you and for you not just in 2008, but as long as you need and want us, we'll be there.

Last Farewell/Last Greeting is my second favorite song from Big Bang (from their mini-album "Hot Issue"), with first place going to Always off their mini-album "Always". Funny how both favorite songs are track number 6 on both mini-albums... ^^;

The actor is Lee Dong-Geon of Lovers in Paris fame ("Martin" in the Philippine dub of the series). The MV is fun to watch, because I am always a big fan of geek-to-gorgeous stories (my gorgeous boyfriend also used to be a geek, lol!).

To be released on January 16, 2008, the song has often been compared by reviewers to "Ride On" (my second favorite single after "Rising Sun!"). It has that sexy R&B vibe of Ride On. DBSK + sexy = infinite loop on the player. *_*

After numerous cycles of the song on "repeat", I have to admit I'm pretty much in love with it already. The booming bass beats, the catchy percussions, the oozing sexy vocals, the provocative lyrics ("I only wanna touch myself", anyone? ^_^), the rapping, the melody, everything is just perfect. The song is HOT HOT HAWT!

I can't wait for this single! In the words of the uploader: "i totally believe that this can make oricon #1! it's an smp song, written by yoo young jin (who also wrote "o" and "rising sun"), so i'm SO looking forward to the performance, too!"

I consider Forever Love one of DBSK's/Tohoshinki's strongest ballads. One can listen to this over and over and appreciate it more each time (especially the a capella version, so good!). It's such a beautiful song from beginning to end.

Unfortunately, the Bell'n'Snow Edit version, off their Together single, is just... plain wrong. The church organs overpowered the vocals. This is supposed to be a Christmas version, but I wish they used a lighter feel for the remix. -_-;

[VIDEO] DBSK / TVXQ's Yoochun and Junsu crying!

DBSK's live performance of "Proud" from their Japanese album Five In The Black.

Yoochun (Mickey) started crying first, and Junsu (Xiah) followed soon after. I've read they were recalling how much the group had to go through to get where they are now, reaching the top spot in the Oricon. The title of this song (Proud) is very much justified. ^_^

At the end of the performance, it was only Changmin (Max) and Jaejoong (Hero) who were left with their composure intact. Even Yunho (U-Know) was giving in near the end.

But Changmin cracked me up when he shook his head at Yoochun when he first started to cry, as if he was rolling his eyes at him. LOL!



What's fascinating is that their performance was still superb throughout, especially Jaejoong who carried on beautifully when Yoochun was unable to sing. DBSK really takes my breath away.

Changmin and Jaejoong looked especially hot here..... *drool* Watch for the part where Jaejoong bites his lip while looking at his weeping friends:

[DRAMA] Goong S (Prince Hours) airs in the Philippines January 2007

Kyaaaah! Finally the Philippines will get a chance to see SE7EN on primetime television!

According to this wiki article on Goong S (Prince Hours), ABS-CBN will air the series starting January 27 of next year.

I can't wait! I've been ranting on and on about how Asian performers seem to have a somewhat low visibility in the Philippines (though my country is in Asia) and how my country's pop culture is largely influenced by the US. Through Full House, Rain (Bi) became a household name (especially with that ubiquitous Clear commercial). Through Meteor Garden, the country went wild for F4. Everyone knows who Utada Hikaru is. And now, because of Goong S, people will finally know Se7en. Yay! I hope the series will do well because Goong (Princess Hours) is such a hit in the country it had already primetime reruns and DVDs are so rampant it's illegal. ^_^

Sometimes I still wonder why Asian stars gain popularity in the Philippines through TV dramas instead of their music... -_-?
